The land on which Vihara Suwarnadwipa is built is ideal as a temple site based on Chinese geomancy rule as the front is facing the lake and its back is against the mountain. The temple buildings are designed according to Traditional Chinese temple architecture.
There are 3 main buildings within the temple complex with each building dedicated to different Buddhas & Bodhisattvas. The host for the highest building (Vihara C on the site plan), known as The Great Mercy Hall or 大悲殿 (Da Bei Dian) is 观音菩萨 (Guan Yin Pu Sa or Goddess of Mercy), flanked by her two acolytes - 善财 (Shan Cai or Golden Youth) and 龙女 (Long Nu or Jade Maiden).
The middle building (Vihara B on the site plan) is The Great Treasure Hall or 大雄宝殿 (Da Xiong Bao Dian) is dedicated to 释迦摩尼 (Shi Jia Mo Ni – Buddha Sakyamuni), accompanied by his 18 students 十八罗汗 (Shi Ba Luo Han or the 18 Arhats).
弥勒佛 (Mi Le Fo - Buddha Maitreya or God of Happiness) guarded by 四大金刚 (Shi Da Jin Gang - The Four Heavenly Guardians) is housed on the ground level (Vihara A on the site plan). This building will be known as Hall of Celestial Kings or 天王殿 (Tian Wang Dian).
Besides these three main buildings, there are also the Ancestral Hall (Vihara D on the site plan) and Multi-Purpose Hall. A statue of Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva or 地藏菩萨 (Di Zang Pu Sa) will be enshrined inside the Ancestral Hall. The Multi-Purpose Hall will be used as meditation and/ or conference venue with a vegetarian Food & Beverage outlet.
The temple statues and decorations are and will be custom-made in mainland China as well as sourced from local artisans in Java and Bali.
