Vihara Suwarnadwipa is located within Taman Simalem resort which is about 100km from Medan City Centre, North Sumatera Province, Indonesia. Recommended driving route is to exit Medan City via Jalan Jamin Ginting towards Berastagi Town/ Sidikalang City. Alternative detour with less traffic but narrower road is to turn to left to Tongkoh at Tugu Jeruk Junction just before entering Berastagi Town.

Being located within Taman Simalem resort, temple visitors, like other resort day visitors, will be required to purchase access package (exception applies for visitors who have purchased resort accommodation package) at the resort entrance which also serves as the entry point for the temple. However, temple visitors may pre-purchase/ book Vihara Package that already includes Resort Entrance. 100% of the proceed from Vihara Entrance Package sales goes to the Foundation of Vihara Suwarnadwipa and will be used for the vihara operational and charitable purposes.
